How it works

Want to roast yourself maybe? 

You should! We have the tools, expertise, and support to get you off the ground, whether you’re an expert, a beginner, have five cafes or want to roast as a hobby. Either way, here are the general steps. 

01 Create

We go out into the world of green bean suppliers and request a bunch of samples to match your preference. Then we organise a tasting to establish a Flavour Profile. Once we have that important information sorted we can cost everything up and provide you with a full quote. At this point there is no commitment you simply get to see your options and decide whats best for your business.

Already have green sorted; even better we can easily sit down and discuss your needs than provide you with a quote for roasting at Modern Coffee.

02 Contracts

You are ready to order green coffee, you're happy with the pricing we just need to fill out some paperwork and commit to the green coffee contracts. This can be a daunting step but trust us you will not regret it. As part of our commitment to initial and ongoing support we help you arrange shipment of your green coffee. We do all the arranging of green for you the first time, so the next time you know exactly what to do. 

03 Training

You're ready to become a coffee roaster, we schedule you in for an induction and training session. Here you will learn the fundamentals of roasting as well as begin setup of your personalised roasting profiles. By the end of this session you will have done three different levels of roast. Once tasted and the favourite is chosen. We will make small tweaks to fine tune your profile for optimal flavour.  

04 Production

Training wheels are off, once you are confident and happy with your profiles we leave you to it. But don’t worry we are never too far away. Someone is always on site to provide support whenever it's needed.

We will also help guide you through developing any other profiles and coffees you wish to roast for as long as you need. And we have a list of packaging suppliers that we recommend so you can begin to build your brand.
